Garry Tomporowski, M.A.I.B.C, Architect and Principle
Garry was born and raised near Prince Albert Saskatchewan and attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with an M.Arch. In addition to running the day-to-day operations of the Firm itself, Garry remains active and involved in each one of the projects undertaken by the office.
Rachel Clarida, B. Arch Sci, Designer
Rachel is from Sault St. Marie Ontario, and graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in Architectural Science. Rachel is also a Registered Interior Designer having completed the NCIDQ exams to qualify her for registration in all jurisdictions of North America. Rachel is not only a talented Architectural Designer but also has extensive experience working with Interior Design Firms in Ontario prior to joining GTA. Rachel also instructs at the Centre for Arts and Technology (Kelowna) in the Interior Design program and is Chairperson for the IDIBC Okanagan Chapter.
Mark Felt, ccca, ASET
Mark was born and raised in British Columbia and attended UBC and graduated from college in Vancouver. Mark is a member of Construction Specifications Canada, and also the Building Envelope Council of British Columbia. Marks many functions include specification writing, field reviews during construction, and building envelope consulting. He has an extensive background in these fields from both Vancouver and Calgary with both RJC Engineering and Morrison Hirschfield.
Clint Gavel AScT, CEA
Clint is from Alberta, and was educated in area schools and world travels prior to attending NAIT in Edmonton where he graduated as an Architectural Technologist with honors. Clint has brought a variety of skills as well as very strong technical capabilities including Building Code and Zoning Analysis to the office and continues to advance in all aspects. Clint is also a Certified Energy Advisor within the Okanagan region and brings a green, efficient and sustainable approach to every project.
Maureen Tomporowski, Administration Assistant, Human Resources
Maureen has been with the Firm in various capacities for over 30 years, and currently functions as mentor and Human Resource manager. Maureen has significant previous experience in the legal profession and the legal court system. And she is an incredible piano player.
George A. Gowlland, B.Arch (M.A.I.B.C Ret.)
George has over 40 years experience and works on a part time, contract basis for GTA. George has extensive experience from running his own private practice as well as being the chief planner for the University of Lethbridge in its early evolution. He was also employed by the Minister of Education in developing the functional program for Okanagan University College. George adds an immeasurable dimension to the Firm because of his extensive background and assists the Firm when necessary in design, production documents, and field administration. George also functions as a quality control supervisor and specification writer. Although now retired, George is in continuous contact with the office as well as his own personal pursuits.
John M. Schlosser B.D –- BD.AIBC, AScT
John is recognized as a registered Building Designer by the AIBC and functions as a GTA’s Senior Collaborating Technical Advisor and Design Co-ordinator. John is actively involved as a task force member in the BC Building Policy Advisory Committee, who advises to the Minister of Building Code issues. John has served on a number of Provincial and was president of the Building Designer Institute of British Columbia as well as founding member of that group. Johns experience spans over 35 years in Kelowna.
Ellen Wolski
Ellen moved to Kelowna in May of 2008. Originally, from Northern Alberta, she graduated from the Grande Prairie Regional College, NAIT and has taken numerous courses at the Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary. The majority of Ellen’s career has been in Telecommunication where she had several roles from product trainer to project manager to consultant. In her last project, she consulted to the Alberta Government on a multi-year province wide project. At this end of this major project she left Canada working and traveling for two years. Currently, Ellen is in the role of Administrator / Executive Assistant.
Roger Rearden, B. Arch
Roger is from Lexington Kentucky and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky. Roger has over 35 years of design and technical experience in Education, Judicial, Detention, Restaurant and General Architecture projects with small and large architectural firms throughout the United States. Roger comes to GTA as B.I.M. manager and mentor to Staff for Autodesk Revit.
Jay Gillman, IA.AIBC, M.Arch, B.E.D.S., B.Sc.
Jay is an Intern Architect with the AIBC. He was born and raised here in the Okanagan. He completed his M.Arch and B.E.D.S degrees at Dalhousie University, in Halifax NS, and also holds a B.Sc. from the University of Victoria. Jay has experience working on a multitude of project types and scales from residential homes to hospitals. He has worked in all climates and locals from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and has now returned home.
