Master Planning
Over the years, GTA has been involved in the master planning of large sites for multiple buildings and for a variety of community uses both urban and rural. This service has ranged from recreational resort planning for individual homes and vacation retreats, to collaborating on large urban planning exercises. Of recent note is the former KSS site in downtown Kelowna, which is a multi-million dollar development on a 13 acre site. This was in consort with BKDI Architects of Calgary where GTA provided a collaborating and supportive design and review role.
Our design and planning activity also included large city blocks of integrated multi-use planning such as Hudson’s Cross in Salmon Arm. This covers site covering approximately a city block and includes commercial and a variety of residential components for different target markets. GTA has also been involved in master planning a number of large residential sites throughout the Okanagan Valley where the residential components have exceeded a hundred units.
We integrate modern design objectives with a variety of old and new world social interactions which result in a distinct “humanity” in the projects we design.
We would encourage all our existing and potentially new clients to contact our office to discuss the urban design potential of your site with our staff. This would include not only large scale projects but smaller intimate projects whose dependence on integration into an existing urban fabric requires a sensitivity that provides for a sustainable and comfortable social environment.
