The LSLIB Wellness Centre and Daycare building, was designed with the focus of bringing two essential services conveniently under one roof. The building construction features exposed wood log-style beams to complement the culture of the people and community.
The Wellness Centre includes office space, medical exam rooms and a dental suite for visiting professionals. Careful consideration in the design and layout of the Wellness Centre was given in order to accommodate the current needs of the Band, while ensuring flexibility in the buildings functionality for future use as well. The Skwlax Wellness Centre provides health, social development and employment services, as well as traditional healing areas.
The adjoining Daycare facility includes areas for children of all ages; including a nursery, areas for infants to age six, as well as space to accommodate after school care. The Daycare features fully functional play spaces, as well as a kitchen and laundry facilities. The Daycare is situated adjacent to the Elder’s Cabins creating an interactive environment between the Band Elders and Youth, as well as a heightened sense of community.
