The unique multi-use development project, located steps away from Kelowna Regional Hospital, aims to integrate hospitality into health care.
The Medical Services Centre and Residences at 2169 Pandosy in Kelowna, B.C. is registered with the intent of becoming Canada’s first WELL Certified project, paving the way for a development revolution that sees health and wellness become a primary driver of design and construction choices.
“Passionate research and dedication is what 2169 Pandosy was founded on. Our experiences caring for family and friends as they moved through the medical system,” Alana Marrington says of the driving force behind the project.
“We focused on providing a place to stay, short-term, home away from home. That’s why we designed a space that adapts to life and encourages positive and healing energies whether you are there for short-term or permanent residence. Commercial Medical ancillary space also benefits from the same healthy details as the residential,” adds Marrington.
Some of the features of 2169 Pandosy, designed by GTA Architecture Ltd. of Kelowna BC may include:
flexible wall systems; an innovative flooring material that deactivates bacteria; landscaping that is completely edible and non-toxic; other design elements may include anti-microbial Corian countertops and touchless faucets, there is simply too many great features to list.
The features and design choices made by Alana Marrington have made the Kelowna development a prime candidate for seeking certification under the International WELL Building Institute’s WELL Building Standard pilot program will fill a long empty gap in the communities medical landscape.
